Antrim County
Elk Rapids Marina - Elk Rapids
The Elk Rapids ice rink is located at the Elk Rapids Marina, on the corner of Bridge Street and River Street. Visit the Village of Elk Rapids Facebook Page for details and updates.
Richardi Park - Bellaire
Located on the Intermediate River just north of downtown, Richardi Park includes a swimming beach, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a large pavilion that can be rented. In winter, when conditions permit, the village builds ice rinks. Plenty of parking is available in the lot off E. Antrim Street.
Benzie County
Crystal Mountain - Thompsonville
Guests can enjoy a few whirls on Crystal Mountain's ice skating rink, located in Barr Park right in the heart of Crystal's village. All guests must obtain a rink pass from the Park at Water's Edge and complete a Winter On-Site Recreation Waiver prior to ice skating. Ice skates are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Park at Water's Edge.
Academy Park - Benzonia
Located on the corner of US-31, adjacent to the Mills Community House, Academy Park is a popular gathering place. Amenities include playground equipment, picnic pavilion, tennis courts, and a baseball field. During Up North winters the baseball field transforms into an ice skating rink.
Charlevoix County
Avalanche Preserve Recreation Area - Boyne City
Avalanche Preserve Recreation trails are being groomed on a regular basis for walking,snowshoeing and biking. There is snow on the sledding hill for sledding and plenty of ice made and groomed for skating. Restrooms are available and there is an attendant onsite for assistance and to provide the loaned skates and sleds.
Boyne Mountain - Boyne Falls
Stop by the Boyne Mountain ice rink - located just behind the Clock Tower Lodge - and lace up your skates. Whether you're carving figure eights, throwing a triple toe loop, or doing your best just to stay upright, you're sure to have fun doing it at Boyne Mountain.
Mt. McSauba - Charlevoix
Mt. McSauba is a winter recreation playground. There is a skating rink with a warming cabin on the south side, a lighted sledding hill on the north side and behind the towering dune, a cross-country ski trail.
Walloon Lake Village Ice Rink - Walloon Lake
The Village continues to offer 4-season fun with its Ice Skating Rink. Bring your own skates or borrow from their selection! Afterwards, enjoy hot chocolate and dessert (or a fabulous dinner) at the Barrelback Restaurant.
Emmet County
Harbor Springs Sk8 Park - Harbor Springs
The Harbor Springs Sk8 Park is open in the winter months for free skating or hockey. A warming hut and hot chocolate are available. Free rental for ice skates upon request. The ice rink is currently located at the Sk8 Park, 740 E. Main St. If you have any questions call Nate at 231-330-1594.
Petoskey Ice Arena - Petoskey
The Petoskey Ice Arena has Learn to Skate and Figure Skating programs, a Learn Hockey program, and Holiday open skates. Holiday open skates begin the week of Thanksgiving. Winter Sports Park - Petoskey
The Winter Sports Park provides a community venue for many popular winter recreational activities. Included within the park are designated areas for sledding, ice skating, hockey, and skiing or snowboarding. Free ice "scooters" are available to assist those that need some help learning how to ice skate. The park features a warming house complete with a fireplace, concession stand (candy, pop, water, hot chocolate, hot dogs, pretzels, pizza, etc.) drinking fountain, free wireless Internet access, a large HDTV, and restrooms. Board games are available to checkout and weather permitting, a campfire area is available on the weekends. The park typically opens in late December and closes in mid March.
Grand Traverse County
14th and Pine Street (Thirlby Field) - Traverse City
A local favorite, the ice rink on 14th and Pine Street in downtown Traverse City is near the Michigan State Police Post and Thirlby field. There is no charge for use of Traverse City rinks. Weather permitting, the rinks will be open from mid-January to early March.
Centre Ice Arena and Howe Ice Arena - Traverse City
Centre Ice Arena and Howe Ice Arena offer open skates and twilight open skates. Open skates are $5 per person, and $5 skate rentals. View the rink schedule for availability.
Civic Center South - Kingsley
Civic Center South is a regional park located in the Village of Kingsley that offers baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, a children's playground, an archery range, skating rink, a walking trail, full service pavilion, and an 18-hole disc golf course.
Rose Street near Carver (Traverse Heights Elementary School) - Traverse City
Visit the ice rink on Rose Street near Carver, at the Traverse Height Elementary School. There is no charge for use of Traverse City rinks. Weather permitting, the rinks will be open from mid-January to early March.
State Street between Railroad and Hope (F&M Park) - Traverse City
F and M Park is a very popular neighborhood park downtown Traverse City, nestled between the Boardman and Oak Park Neighborhoods. The park features a train themed playground, gazebo, basketball court, picnic tables and open areas for informal sports and play. During the winter months, a skating rink is available.
Kalkaska County
Kaliseum Recreation Complex - Kalkaska
The Kaliseum Recreation Complex offers open skates for $5 (free for members), and skate rentals for $3.
Leelanau County
Braman Hill Recreation Area - Northport
Braman Hill Recreation Area is a year-round recreation area. Amenities include four tennis courts, a basketball court, a skating park and ice rink, sledding hills, hiking trails, a tot lot, a shooting range, a warming house with bathrooms, and a scenic viewing area located at the top of the hill with a fire ring and picnic tables.
Ice Rink Park - Suttons Bay
Suttons Bay's Ice Rink Park is located on the corner of Broadway & Lincoln Street. During the winter, volunteers flood the area and groom the ice for skating and pick up hockey games. In mid-February the site hosts an all-day competitive pond hockey tournament.
Leland Ice Skating Rink - Leland
The Leland Ice Skating Rink is a public outdoor ice skating rink located at Hancock Field in Leland, Michigan. The rink is 100% funded by donations and maintained by community volunteers.
Manistee County
Sands Park - Manistee
Sands Park is located on the south side of Manistee, adjacent to the Manistee Middle School at the corner of Maple and Eighth Streets. There are tennis courts, a playground and a baseball/football field also used for ice skating in the winter.
Wexford County
The Wexford Civic Center - Cadillac
Visit The Wexford Civic Center for a fun afternoon on the ice with family and friends! Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or coffee from the Food Bar. Open skates are most Saturday and Sundays from 2pm-4pm during the ice skating season (check their ice calendar for possible conflicts). Cost is $3 per person, including skate rental! The Wex also offers free Learn to Skate classes from ages 3 to 7, and a free Learn to Play Hockey program.
